From the President's Dock

Well this month has been pretty darn hot and dry. So far our area has been spared the brush fires. Stay away Mr. Hurricane...

I hope that your lives are going well and your health is holding up.

Sorry that many of you missed our general meeting June 5th. We had a pleasant surprise bestowed upon our group of 30 who attended. Napoli's owner (Mike) sent over about 6 or 7 pizza pies and garlic cheese bread with marinara sauce for dipping. He also sent us plenty of cold drinks to go along. Added to Taunnie's goodies with coffee, we had a feast!! The food was excellent as usual from Napoli's. To Mike- we truly thank you for your generosity and appreciate your kindness.

At our meeting we addressed many topics like the canal petition, the beach walkway repair and security in our neighborhood. Additionally, we had our regular Florida State Lottery give away and our successful raffle promoted by George Pascucci began. We netted $ 306.00.

The grand prizewinner of $ 100.00 was Wally Richter and Evelyn Delaney won second place for $ 75.00. Congratulations to the winners!!!

To all those who did not win I thank you for your support. As a side note Evelyn turned around and sent a check to our Treasurer for $ 75.00. Thank you Evelyn for your generosity.

Today is Friday June 9th. I called Flagler Hospital to get Louie Gaj's room number so I could visit however I was told that he was discharged at 3:00 P.M. I called him at home. Louie was happy to be home. The doctors told him not to lift anything heavy for a while. He's got to be careful with his "Ticker". Glad you're home Louie.

On another note, we are in need of replacement street captains for Salado and Pueblo Roads. Sometimes we must distribute letters, bulletins or petitions (like the one for the canals) to the community quickly. This is where we look to our street captains for help.

Please consider a position of street captain and give me a call at 471-1579. Your help is needed now.

Please come out and support your community activities. We had a very nice turn out at the Volunteer Appreciation picnic held at Butler Park West last month. We always have the Lunch Bunch folks who attend a different restaurant each month. If you are new to the area you may want to try the Lunch Bunch. You may enjoy yourself and lunches are always inexpensive. This is a good way to find your favorite restaurant in and around your community.

Coming up in a few weeks (Saturday June 24th) is the St Augustine Boat excursion that leaves the city docks at 8:30 P.M. I doubt that you will see this article before the event occurs. If you have an e-mail address registered with us you were told about this tour.

It should be very nice and relaxing cruise about 1 hour fifteen minutes or so. Adults $ 7.50 Children $ 3.50.

We then have our bowling party set for Saturday July 8th at Noon at Anastasia Bowling on A1A. Last year's event was enjoyed by all. That's why this is our second annual party.

The cost is like $ 6.00 per person that includes two hours of bowling and includes shoe rental. They have inexpensive hot dogs, burgers and soda pop. So come and enjoy quality time with your neighbors, friends, children and grandchildren.

Then we have our August 12th Beach Party that everyone will enjoy- It won't cost you anything to enjoy your part of the beach with friends and family. Our chairperson has some fun things planned.

I hope to see you at the coming events. Don't stay at home. Enjoy life.

Sincerely,

Charlie Novak
