TREASURE BEACH CAN BE THE BEST EVER BUT ONLY WITH VOLUNTEERS LIKE YOU!

The Treasure Beach community is served by many volunteers who share their time and expertise. The list below is not all inclusive but it does give you an idea of the many opportunities available within our community. If you would like to be involved in any of the functions below or would like additional information please call one of the Board Members or the contact number below.

If you have served as a volunteer during the 2005 and/or 2006 year please mark Saturday May 20th for our Spring Volunteer's Picnic. If you haven't volunteered yet, consider volunteering now so you can attend our picnic and more importantly help our community.

The President's Dock March 2006

Hi Neighbors,

I hope life is treating you well or fairly well or just living and breathing. We had a nice response to our Beach walk Chairman's request for help. Jim Berrier will tell you about that in his article. Today is Wednesday and it was Lunch Bunch day. For those of you who missed the lunch today - Well, you missed some good food at Mango Mango's. I think that Rose Larsen does a great job planning the next place to dine. Thank You Rose.

By the way, my bride and me think of the lunch bunch as in wine tasting. We get to sample the cuisine of the many local restaurants in our area and have fun with the neighbors who attend. Rose has set it up that someone always walks away with a free lunch courtesy of her employer.

When I took office I made a things to do list .On this list is a goal to attempt to get a cross walk painted on the highway of A1A to get to beach walk way or a sign of some sort warning motorists of pedestrians. The best I could dream of would be a traffic light at Treasure Beach and A1A. On March 14, 2006 there is a meeting with the St. Johns County Safety Traffic Team at the Emergency Operations Center. I plan to attend to begin my quest for added safety for our neighbors who cross the street to get to the beach. Maybe we could have the traffic light operational during Bike Week and Snowbird season. If you are one who opposes this action then meet me there and argue against my request.

I believe that we have witnessed some favorable rapport with our Seychelles residents and will continue to keep an open dialogue. It is nice to feel that we both have a common cause that binds us together. I will strive to keep our relationship well and alive.

While on this subject, I received an email from one of the Seychelles Officers today concerning the walkway. I know the complaint is factual because I witnessed it today myself. While working with Ray Roberts replacing a handrail we ran into a man who was feeding the birds on the beach. He said he lived in Treasure Beach on Desoto Road . Returning to our vehicle parked on A1A, Ray and I noticed a trail of dry pet food all the way from the beach to the street. I guess this man was not aware of what had happened. I don't think he would have done this on purpose. But, the fact remains- there have been reports of rats and mice( live and dead) found on the Seychelles properties recently. It was expressed to me that a trail of dog food will only add fuel to their fire ( problem). So I am hoping that this gentleman reads this article and takes heed to a simple request. Please keep the food from spilling onto the walkway. I know that I would not want this to happen to me.

We have our liability insurance with Herbie Wiles Insurance Agency all worked out and are protected for another year.

As a reminder, we do have a special guest speaker for our April 3rd meeting at the Beachers Lodge. So please come and see what the person has to say. It's all about our county's hurricane evacuation plan and how it affects us here in Treasure Beach.

You will not want to miss it.

In this months newspaper you will come across a list of Opportunities. Take a close look at it .See what may tickle your fancy ( there is a lot to chose from) and maybe you just might want to become a part of something fun. Don't be bashful or timid there are a lot of nice folks who work on the committees listed enjoy a sense of accomplishment and maybe even laugh a little. You may just happen to make a new friend along the way. Come on, give back to your community and enjoy the good feeling when the job is done.

If each person in Treasure Beach just gave maybe an hour of their time for a couple weeks per year , the assignment (opportunity) would be accomplished and you would have enjoyed being part of it. Do you need a ride for a committee meeting? - just say so and arrangements can be made. Do you need a ride to the meetings? Just tell me.

I will end on this note and say good bye for another month.''

Respectfully,

Charlie Novak
