CANAL DREDGING MEETINGS - We have had 2 canal meetings at the county administration office in the month of March. When the canal committee sent out their letters asking for signatures...either yes or no....we received 65% yes responses.. Letters went to 455 property owners. The county then sent out their letters explaining the MSBU that will be needed to fund this project. If you are reading this post and have not returned your county letter, please do so ASAP!
Many people purchase(d) property in TB because of the access to the inter-coastal waterway. It is very important, as property owners, that this access be preserved.
CODE ENFORCEMENT
If you see code enforcement violations on your street you can go into the St. Johns County website...go to the code enforcement section and click on the PRIDE tab. You can list a code infraction anonymously or you can put your name. Either way you choose, you will be given a reference number so you can go back into code enforcement and see the outcome of your notification.
LOSS OF A TREASURE BEACH RESIDENT
It's always sad when we lose another resident. Last weekend Charles Picullo died of a heart attack in his home. Charlie used to live at the corner of Costenaro and Pizzaro but had moved to Salado Road approximately one year ago.
The board and the community extend our sympathies to his family and friends.
That's it for this blog......however....check the blog as often as you want to. We will be adding updates as often as necessary.
We hope everyone has a blessed Easter Holiday.

TREASURE BEACH NEWS BLOG
Greetings! This is the new way to hear all about TB news, updates, meetings, etc.
We will no longer be putting The President's Dock in the local newspaper. I know some people don't like this new feature.....hopefully it will catch on! This will be the best way to get news from TB in a much quicker way. In the past, I had to write the article 30 days in advance and by the time it hit the First Coast Journal....it was old news! This new way will also allow out of town property owners to keep in touch w/their investment! Thanks to our "web-master", Karen Carter, for setting up this feature and teaching me and Charlie Novak how to use it!!
Check out the new Anastasia Island Community Journal. Our V.P, Sharon McIlhenney is the new Community Editor.
OK...let's get started!
NEXT TBPOA MEETING: JUNE 11TH, 2013 - BEACHER'S LODGE - 6:30 PM - POT LUCK!!
As many of you know, the board voted to only have 2-3 meetings per year because of the lack of interest in attending these meetings. June will be our first meeting of this new year. At this meeting we will need to discuss nominating new board members for 2014. There will be a meeting in November to nominate AND vote on the new board members.
We sincerely hope to have new volunteers that want to be on the board as we are going to lose 2-3 at the end of this year. I will not run for President again due to family responsibilities.

November 2012 Newsletter
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
It’s that time again when family and friends get together to celebrate Thanksgiving. I read an article about the first Thanksgiving and it turns out they may not have even had turkey, or sweet potatoes or pumpkin pie!
The first recorded religious Day of Thanksgiving was held in 1623 in response to a providential rainfall.
The religious day of thanksgiving and the harvest festival evolved into a single event: a yearly Thanksgiving, proclaimed by individual governors for a Thursday in November.
The custom of an annual Thanksgiving celebrating abundance and family spread across America. Some presidents proclaimed Thanksgivings, others did not. Abraham Lincoln began the tradition of an annual national Thanksgiving in 1863.
Thanksgiving is an enduring symbol from which millions of immigrants have learned "Americanism." While not all Native Peoples celebrate the day, the story of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag sharing a harvest celebration remains an inspiration to many.
SAD NEWS
We are very sorry to have to tell you that we lost a good friend and board member this month due to cancer. Barbara Warman was our Treasurer for four years and did an exemplary job. Barbara was also very instrumental in getting the annual dues letter out to our property owners with the help of Gisela and Freddie Prange.

NOVEMBER 13TH, 2012 - VOTING FOR OFFICERS – POT LUCK
There’s not much of a surprise here! The officers for the TBPOA board for the year 2013 are as follows:
Paula Murphy – President Irv Stockdale – 1st VP Sharon McIlhenney – 2nd VP
Charlie Novak – Treasurer Richard Grubb - Recording Secretary
Unless there are any surprise volunteers at the November meeting…..the above people will be the 2013 Treasure Beach Board.
CHANGES COMING IN THE YEAR 2013
As you can see by the names running for the board in 2013…..change is going to be necessary if we are to have a board at all. For the last 5 years….it has pretty much been the same people volunteering for the board.
Starting in 2013 there will only be one Community Meeting held during the year. The date will be announced in the near future.
There will be a major change in the way we communicate with our owners/residents. There will no longer be monthly articles in the First Coast Journal from the President. TBPOA will rely solely on our website to communicate information. There are very positive aspects to this new change. The details have not been completely worked out, but they will be announced in the December (and last issue) of The President’s Dock.
And, don’t forget our “nextdoor neighbor” web site.
Respectfully submitted:
Paula Murphy, Doc Hall, Sharon McIlhenney, Charlie Novak and Richard Grubb

TBPOA PICNIC 6/9/2012
Well….the picnic was a success! Thunderstorms threatened us, but they went away right around 11:00 a.m. so the picnic committee went to work setting things up. By noon the die hard picnickers started showing up and the committee started cooking! As usual, there were great side dishes to share and great desserts! Even some new faces! It’s such a great opportunity to meet new people in TB.
Our guest speakers talked about invasive plants in our area and had suggestions as to how to get rid of them. Two big offenders are the Brazilian Pepper tree and the Mexican Petunias. Wouldn’t you know it….the only things I can grow are on the invasive plant list! I have given up on tomatoes!
We did have food left over, however. So guess what we’re having at the Sept. 11th meeting????? Hamburgers and Hot Dogs! Don’t worry…the meat that was not cooked has been frozen!!! We also have chips and soft drinks. You can still bring your own dinner, if you want to OR just bring a side dish to share.

SEPTEMBER 11, 2012 – NOMINATION OF OFFICERS
POT LUCK – 6:30 …………MEETING AT 7:30 BEACHER’S LODGE
We hope to see a lot of people at this meeting. It is a VERY IMPORTANT meeting to nominate officers for 2012. I will not be putting my name in the bag this year so please, please give thought about serving on our TBPOA Board of Directors.
There are two big elections in November…..TBPOA Officers and the election for a new President of the United States of America . (I’m not putting my name in for that job either!).
CANAL COMMITTEE
The canal committee sent out letters about a month ago and we have received some mailed responses and some phone calls. We need to hear from ALL of you. This is a community effort. If you don’t take the time to send back your letter (with or without money…..in favor or not in favor), you may not be happy with the final decisions. We need to know how many people are in favor of dredging and how many are not. WE PREFER TO HAVE THE RESPONSE SHEET FROM YOU FOR OUR RECORDS. We included a self-addressed stamped envelope. There were also addresses listed for you to drop off your response, if you prefer.
If you DID NOT receive a letter, or know someone who did not…let me know and a letter will be sent to you.
NEW CANAL MARKER PLACED
John Gobler of Maritime Construction placed a PVC marker to indicate the North side of the channel exiting Treasure Beach . John Delaney had a PVC pole that he wasn’t using so John Gobler put it to good use! If you need a bulkhead installed or repaired, you might want to contact John Gobler at Maritime Construction, P. O. Box 2014 , Flagler Beach , Fl 32136-2014. Phone# 904-860-1185. Website: MaritimeConstructionInc.com
TB will ask a member of the canal committee to place the appropriate symbol on this pole.
LET’S GET PHYSICAL
Did you know we have a personal trainer that lives in Treasure Beach ? (So much for my excuse for not exercising!) Shawna Cochran lives on Treasure Beach Blvd and offers many different exercise classes for all ages. She can be reached at 904-540-4524. If we could get enough men and women together we might be able to form our own exercise classes for TB residents!
TREASURE BEACH NEXTDOOR WEBSITE
If you haven’t signed into the above web site you need to give it a try. You can meet new people, stay in touch with ones you don’t see often and post items to sell, etc. on this website!
You can also tell residents if you sew, bake, or have items to sell.
This site is ONLY FOR TREASURE BEACH RESIDENTS. When you register with your e-mail address you will be prompted to put in your e-mail address every time you sign on.
You can post as much or as little information on your blog as you choose.
Also…we have some neighbors that have needs due to health issues. If you live near someone that needs help getting to the store, etc., please help them out or let me know and I may be able to contact someone on their street that can help them.
Thanks for your support of Treasure Beach !!!

December 8, 2012 – TBPOA Christmas Party – Beacher’s Lodge 6:00 P.M.
When the information about the Christmas Party comes out you must respond as soon as possible. Last year we didn’t have enough people to justify paying for the room at Beacher’s. We had to move the party to a private residence and were limited on space.
CANAL COMMITTEE
By now, every owner of property in TB should have received a letter notifying them of the new canal committee that has been formed. I hope you took the time to give your thoughts and ideas. Without input from owners, the committee will not be able to make a sound decision.
BEACH WALKWAY
YEAH!!!! The walkway to the beach is finished and looks even better than the first one! We’re sorry if anyone was inconvenienced. We didn't know the EXACT date the walkway would be closed. We had to work around the contractor’s schedule. There will be a gate installed in the near future with new signs attached.
Please be courteous and don’t make un-necessary noise as you pass over this area. Also, remember there is NO skateboarding or skate boards allowed or riding a bike over the walkway. (You may walk you bike over the walkway.)
When all of the work is completed, we will be installing a new gate.
NEXTDOOR TREASURE BEACH
We have opened a new media forTreasure Beach residents to stay in touch with either other. It’s like a “facebook” account for Treasure Beach Residents only.
You can use this website to let people know if you own a business, if you are a seamstress, bake specialty cakes, etc., etc., etc.!!!!
Here’s how to get on: https://treasurebeach.nextdoor.com
You can also advertise your business (for free!) on ourTreasure Beach website: www.treasurebeachflorida.com. Just e-mail me at: paula@tbpoa.com and I’ll have someone contact you.
SEE YOU AT THE PICNIC!
