April 2010 Newsletter

THE PRESIDENT'S DOCK

APRIL, 2010

Happy Easter to everyone! It's a wonderful time of the year when all Christians rejoice in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Every Easter Ron and I put coins and some dollars in plastic Easter eggs and hide them all over the yard for our grandchildren to find. Invariably, we're still finding Easter eggs months later! It works out great though….whenever I'm running a little short on money I just search the yard for eggs!!!

TREASURE BEACH RESIDENT'S APPRECIATION DAY!

APRIL 13,2010 – NEXT COMMUNITY MEETING

7:30 Beacher's Lodge Meeting Room

We will have Dr. Monahan from Monahan Chiropractic as our guest speaker. Be sure to come and bring your aches and pains. (Or, you can leave him/her home if you prefer!!!)

MEMBERSHIP IN TBPOA

We have 191 members as of 2/22/10. If you haven't paid your dues yet, you still have time!!! Think of it this way: it's .11cents per day, .76 cents per week, and only $3.33 per month!

Due to sensitive issues discussed at your community meetings, it will now be necessary that everyone that attends show proof of residency in Treasure Beach. Obviously, if you have been attending meetings for quite some time, this won't be necessary. But, if you are new to the meetings, we will ask for your address. Please understand this has become necessary to protect our business discussions.

WALKWAY

Your Board is still trying to work out solutions to the beach walkway situation with Seychelles and will be in court two times in March.

Protecting your property values is our #1 priority.

VOLUNTEERS AND BOARD MEMBERS

Thanks to all of the "behind the scenes" helpers in TB. It's been a difficult year for me in a lot of ways and I appreciate how so many people have stepped up to help out!

Sincerely,

Paula L. Murphy, President

EX Century 21 Yellow Bldg on 6505 A1A

     New Business

Doing a search I ran into your Treasure Beach Blog.  My name is Manny and my wife is Kelly.  We have been living in St Augustine for 30 some years , my wife as an Occupational  Therapist  and  I did real estate for years . We bought the Century 21 Bldg. and have been wondering what to do with it. Finally we realized that the Kangaroo sore had closed so we are opening a limited convenience store and some fresh take out food to start.  We would appreciate if you give our E Mail address to the Treasure Beach residents so they can suggest what articles  they would like us to carry and we will try and accommodate them. Since this will be some kind of neighborhood store . Hope to meet all the Treasure Beach residents .   Question ? Are we in Treasure Beach we would like to join the association and pay the yearly fee.

Thanks for your time  Manny and Kelly .   mannyg@aug.com

Media Release

MEDIA RELEASE

*Corrected Release*

19 March 2010

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is hosting their first "Operation-Medicine Cabinet" this Saturday. This is a Pharmaceutical Take Back program, a prescription for safe kids and a clean environment.

When old medications are kept in your house it increases the chance for illegal use and theft. But the question remains on how to get rid of expired or old medication? You don't want to flush them, because that would send them into our water system which could contaminate our water supply as well as our drinking water.

Disposing of your unused or expired prescriptions and medications properly is extremely important. So bring your unwanted or unneeded medications to this free collection event and they will be disposed of free of charge. Operation Medicine Cabinet will take place this Saturday, 20 March, 2010 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the front parking lot of the Ponce de Leon Mall, 2121 U.S. 1 South.

Please bring the medications in their original container and that container will be returned. Items that will not be accepted are Sharps, Medical Wastes or thermometers.

For additional information please contact Deputy Diana Bryant, Crime Prevention at the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at (904) 810-6694.
